The first Spalding Labs/USEA Young Event Horse competition of 2009 on the West Coast took place on Thursday, April 16 at the Twin Rivers International Three Day Event.

Seventeen four- and five-year-olds were presented to three qualified judges from the FEI ground jury.

Top honors went to the five-year-old grey Holsteiner stallion Clair de Lune ridden by Robyn Fisher. Claire de Lune received an overall score of 87.75% which was the highest score of the day for all the four- and five-year-olds. Robyn exclaimed, “I love the this horse!” after her jumping round on Clair de Lune. Clair de Lune is by Contendor from the famous Holsteiner Cor de le Bryere lines.
