Attached is a series of pictures of the development of an ICSI embryo (one sperm injected into an egg we collected from a follicle before ovulation). Starting from the injection, first cleavage, blastocyst to morola growth to an 8 day embryo, who is then transferred nonsurgically, (tranditionally transfered thru an incision in the recipients flank area). This embryo was transfered the same way E.T.'s are done. An ultrasound scan shows a resulting 12 day pregnancy. This is our third pregnancy for this procedure, the first foal to be born this week. (8/2010) This procedure is designed for mares that cannot get an embryo (cannot get pregnant) from breeding her and flushing her uturus.
