Three Young Horse Shine At The FEH At The Event Derby At Cottonwood Ranch

cor_de_amore_usae_articleUpdated: 2010-05-12 A colt, a filly, and a gelding took center stage at the Future Event Horse competition at The Event Derby at Cottonwood Ranch in Los Alamos, California. Although there were only three competitors, all of entrants earned excellent scores. “The facility where the show was held is a Thoroughbred Breeding and Training farm,” Head judge and organizer, Wendy Wergeles said. “The atmosphere is perfect for young horse to gain exposure to a new site. Although, the show was small it was fun because we were able to work around the participants’ schedules to give every the best opportunity to have a positive experience.” (Left: Cor de Amore SE prepares for his big debut. The filly who was handled by Luis Rubio and is owned by Charlotte Wrather earned an impressive 89.8. Cor de Amore SE was not far behind with an 89.3. The Belgian Warmblood colt who is owned and handled by Rose Sullivan is by Claire De Lune SE, the 2009 Spalding Labs/USEA Young Event Horse Champion, and out of the Hanoverian mare Piktortial. “Claire de Lune SE's yearling colt had a great show,” said his owner Rose Sullivan. “ He scored a 89.3% and outscored his old man, who had the highest score nationally last year in the YEH with a 87.78%!” The final entrant in the show also had an excellent score. Nobleman, a three-year-old Thoroughbred gelding, score a 81.4. Nobelman, owned and handled by Jordan Janis, is by Siberian Summer and out of Candi’s Star. The next West Coast Future Event Horse competition will take place (for the first time) at the prestigious Rebecca Farm Horse Trials in Kalispell, Montana on July 21.
